We’re excited to invite you to an in-depth webinar on the New York Carbon Farming Act (A05660A / S01529A) — a groundbreaking piece of climate and agricultural legislation that could fundamentally transform how carbon farming (i.e. soil organic carbon, biochar, enhanced weathering) works and is supported in New York State.
Nearly a quarter of New York’s land base is farmland, yet farmers still face steep economic and regulatory barriers to adopting carbon farming practices at scale. This bill aims to change that by creating a science-based carbon farming certification framework and two major market incentives:
A performance-based carbon farming tax credit for farmers, and
An investment tax credit for on-farm carbon practices and infrastructure.

If enacted this legislative session, this law could help unlock a statewide carbon farming economy — opening new revenue pathways for farmers, catalyzing supply chain development for carbon practices (like soil amendments, biochar, and enhanced rock weathering), and positioning New York as a national leader in agricultural carbon removal.
