Next Tuesday, May 6th, we will be joined by Dr. Xinwo Huang, Senior Director at Tencent, and Tencent Business Analysis Manager Dr. Safina Huang, who will introduce Tencent’s unique funding CarbonX Program 2.0, which will provide millions of grants for CDR projects. Submissions are due at the end of May, so this might be your last opportunity to learn about this program and ask questions of key decision makers about how best to prepare your materials for success. We think this is an incredible opportunity for the OpenAir community, not just Carbon Removal Challenge teams.

Tencent’s CarbonX Program 2.0 is soliciting proposals globally based on 4 tech demonstration scenarios with tens of millions US$ in grant fundings.Applications are open to universities, research institutions, and early-stage startups!
The CarbonX Program 2.0
The CarbonX Program (https://carbonxprogram.com/), initiated by Tencent together with industry, investment, and ecosystem partners. It is dedicated to supporting emerging low-carbon technologies with substantial catalytic funding and resources. CarbonX Program 2.0 focuses on pioneering advancements in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), and Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES).
It aims to build first-of-its kind pilot projects in real industrial settings, incubate high-potential startups, and support capacity building projects.
Now open for proposals from visionary technology teams worldwide.
Speakers' Bio:
Dr. Xinwo Huang is Senior Director at Tencent, leading Tencent's climate tech initiatives, especially the CarbonX Program. Xinwo holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University.
Dr. Safina Huang is Business Analysis Manager at Tencent, focusing on carbon dioxide removal (CDR) practices for CarbonX Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Peking University.
